KKR are continuing to look for opportunities to make their business more green, and environmental opportunities are never far away in this day and age. They have successfully added four new companies to their Green Portfolio Program, and two of these are international companies, which is a first for the portfolio.

In other news, KKR have just started a program with EDF in which they hope to be able to build an environmental structure for the TXU Corp, based out of Dallas, which KKR and TPG Capital purchased in 2007. With the recent expansion, this program now has 12 of KKR’s main companies which equates to a 20 percent share. Atlanta’s First Data Corp, Lehigh Phoenix, Oriental Brewery of Seoul and Tarkett, based in Nantes are the four new additions.

This breath of freszh air into KKR is in no small part down to the vision of leading men Henry Kravis and Ken Mehlman. Kravis is of course a founding father of the business, and has sat at the helm since its inception, but Mehlman has a somewhat different background. Mehlman rose to prominence as an American Attorney, and landed a role as manager of the Bush Campaign, 2004. After a success like that, it is no surprise that KKR are surging forward.
